JBL Flip 5 is a lightweight and compact wireless (Bluetooth) speaker in a rugged waterproof case. Using JBL's PartyBoost technology, the JBL Flip 5 can connect to over 100 PartyBoost-enabled speakers.

The ends of the speaker house passive bass radiators that push out quite a bit of low-end. JBL estimates the Flip 5's battery life to be roughly 12 hours, but your results will vary with your volume levels.

IPX7 waterproof rating means it can be immersed in water up to a meter deep for a maximum of 30 minutes. JBL has decided not to equip the Flip 5 with an AUX socket for hardwiring a smartphone or alternative audio device.

It uses Bluetooth 4.2 instead of the latest standard, 5.0. The Flip 5 gets plenty loud, measuring about 96 decibels at max volume.

The speaker can be positioned upright or on its side, thanks to a flat rubber panel. It is waterproof up to IPX7, meaning it can handle being submerged in one metre of water for up to 30 minutes.
