Reviewer score 71%Even on steel springs, the ride is far more compliant than that of the E63 or BMW M5, coping well with poor surfaces. Engine is docile and muted at low to medium revs, with the gearbox shifting smoothly and early when you’re simply taking it easy. The car always feels secure, but this is a reminder that it's a big old bus. Parking is also easier, hypersensitive sensors aside, helping reaffirm this car's suitability as an easy everyday companion.

Reviewer score 83%The Audi RS6 Avant was one of the most expensive estate cars you could buy. With a price tag in excess of £80,000, it offers two cars for the price of one. There are plenty of optional extras, and you could easily raise the car's price to £100k. But the one extra we would highly recommend is the Performance upgrade. Not only does it add more power, it also brings some added aural excitement.

Reviewer score 87%The outgoing RS6 wasn't exactly in the same league as those. Blame suspension too comfortable, steering too light of heft, and a chassis prone to nose-heaviness. That may have been true once but things are changing at Neckarsulm. While it's still a car you drive like a hot hatch – no need for finesse and delicacy here, simply lean hard on the outside tyres.

The V8 can deactivate half its cylinders under light loads, which can push instantaneous mileage to the 30-mpg mark. Both rows offer up tons of space and visibility, and the cargo area's 30 cubic feet of storage space.
