Product Overview

Samsung Galaxy Buds2 are mid-range true wireless headphones with active noise cancellation that comes with a 2-way design that separates the tweeter and woofer drivers, much like the Galaxy Buds Pro unveiled earlier this year.
Thanks to this separation, the woofers and tweeters are able to deliver a broader and flatter frequency response, with minimum distortion. Meanwhile, with three pairs of microphones, the Galaxy Buds Pro use both feed-back and feed-forward for reducing ambient noise. It also provides an adjustable Ambient Sound mode, affording the user the flexibility for conversations and for situational awareness whenever they desire.
Compared to the Galaxy Buds Pro, however, the Galaxy Buds2 are apparently slotted to a lower price point. The ANC featured here is marginally less potent. The Buds2 also drop wireless charging capabilities. On the plus side, Bluetooth 5.2 is supported.

Reviewers from ndtv have found the following***:
Priced at Rs. 11,999 in India, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 competes in the mid-range segment. There's plenty to like about these earphones for the price, including good active noise cancellation, support for the Scalable Bluetooth codec, and good tuning. Even with the AAC Bluetooth Codec, the earphones sound very good, making them a fairly good pick even if you don't have a Samsung smartphone.

Pros
  • Good active noise cancellation
  • Good fit and passive noise isolation
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Limited app support

Reviewers from gizmodo have found the following***:
The Galaxy Buds 2 come really close to matching the audio you get with Samsung's more premium buds. For $150, I don't think it's a dealbreaker, but for people looking for the kind of ANC that delivers a cocoon of silence, you'll probably want to upgrade to more expensive headphones like the Buds Pro or Sony's WF-1000XM4.

Pros
  • Easy-to-use controls
  • Comfortable fit
  • Solid battery life
Cons
  • No real ear tips
  • No wireless charging

The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 are available for pre-order and cost $149.99. The Buds Pro are much more durable, support Samsung 360 Audio, and have very good noise-cancelling. Android smartphone owners who want a smart pair of earbuds should look at the Amazon Echo Buds.

Pros
  • Very good noise-cancelling
  • IPX2 rating
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No Google Assistant support
  • No wireless charging

digitaltrends[4]

Reviewers from digitaltrends have found the following***:
Samsung is going after a mass market with the Galaxy Buds 2 and has shaped their sound to appeal to the masses. There's a bit of a push in the upper treble region that gives them plenty of sparkle. Call quality leaves a little to be desired, but then that's the case with most wireless earbuds.

Pros
  • Comfortable fit
  • Solid battery life
  • Solid noise canceling
Cons
  • Touch controls can be annoying
  • Touch controls are too easily set off

laptopmag[5]

Reviewers from laptopmag have found the following***:
Samsung has the Galaxy Buds 2 rated for five hours with ANC enabled and 7.5 hours with the feature disabled. The five hour battery life puts it on a par with the AirPods Pro and the A-Series. The charging case can give the buds one hour of playtime with a 5-minute charge.

  • Colorful, colorful design
  • Powerful active noise cancelling
  • Comfortable fit
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • Mediocre touch controls

notebookcheck[6]

Reviewers from notebookcheck have found the following***:
The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 are made of plastic, lightweight and have no sharp edges. The in-ears convince with a pleasant wearing feel, are hardly noticeable and yet offer a firm hold in the ear. Samsung relies on a two-way system for the sound output, a comparatively large 11-millimeter (~0.4 in) driver and increased the number of microphones to six.

Pros
  • Good sound quality
  • Good battery life
  • Fast charging case
Cons
  • No IP rating
  • Poor telephony performance

pcmag[7]

Reviewers from pcmag have found the following***:
The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 deliver solid noise cancellation and audio performance for the price. At top, unwise listening levels, the drivers don't distort, and at moderate volumes the bass still feels fairly intense. Background noise is tamped down nicely, and even with a smidge of Bluetooth distortion in the mix, the overall clarity is solid.

Pros
  • Above-average noise cancellation and audio performance
  • Water-resistance rating
  • Three-mic array
Cons
  • Bass-forward sound signature could be more balanced
  • No water resistance rating

rtings[8]

Reviewers from rtings have found the following***:
The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 are decent for neutral sound. They have a fairly neutral sound profile suitable for a variety of audio content. Their treble is a bit recessed, and their passive soundstage is perceived as closed-off. Their continuous battery life of under five hours means that you may need to recharge them up throughout your workday.

  • Comfortable, stable in-ear fit
  • Very good noise isolation performance
  • Well-built and well-built
Cons

t3[9]

The earbuds last about 5 hours from a single charge, while the case provides a total of 20 hours. There's a nice panning effect, the way the sound is directed almost feels like you're in the room listening to it live. The treble is clear while the bass packs a serious punch. On each bud, there's a three microphone system. They use machine learning to identify background noises and filter them out.

Pros
  • Great sound quality
  • Works seamlessly with other Galaxy devices
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • Not as dynamic as more expensive headphones

techhive[10]

The Galaxy Buds2 support Samsung's Auto Switch feature, which lets the buds seamlessly switch between your various Samsung devices. To control many of the features I've outlined above, you'll need the Galaxy Wearable app, which is currently only available for Android. If you are looking for a pair of true wireless earbuds aimed at audiophiles, consider the Bowers & Wilkins PI7.

Pros
  • Sleek, light design
  • Comfortable fit
  • Solid battery life
Cons
  • Noise cancellation only works with Samsung devices
  • No NFC

The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 have a wonderful sound curve that amps up the bass, mids and highs. While ANC still has room to improve, Samsung has found some success upgrading the call quality on its earbuds. They're good enough for routine office work, but we wouldn't recommend them for long flights or particularly busy job sites.

Cons

The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 offers plenty of functionality at an attainable price. Sound is both versatile and vibrant, ranking just below the Galaxy Bud's Pro. The buds have some of the strongest quick charging available, netting you 1 hour of use on a 5-minute charge. Samsung's ANC technology is still a viable option for blocking out unwanted noises.

  • Sleek design
  • Comfortable fit
  • PowerShare wireless charging
Cons
  • Lackluster call quality
  • No multi-device pairing

The Galaxy Buds 2 have been tuned by AKG. ANC and Ambient sound modes impress, with noise cancelling introducing an immediate sense of calm. Battery life is merely okay at a claimed five hours per earbud and 20 hours with the case. Bluetooth connectivity is 5.2 (the latest version at the time of review), with support for SBC, AAC and Samsung's Scalable Codec.

Pros
  • Solid ANC and Ambient sound modes
  • Comfortable fit
Cons
  • Lacks sharpness and definition
  • Battery life could be better

whathifi[15]

Reviewer score 66%
Reviewers from whathifi have found the following***:
The Buds 2 are more energetic than Samsung's previous wireless propositions and there's a pleasing weight, but the mix is a little too forward-focused. Although there's bass depth and energy, it isn't a particularly agile listen. There's also a harshness through the treble which encroaches up the frequency band to the extent that the midrange comes off dynamically flat.

Pros
  • Vibrant, energetic sound
  • Sleek design
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Harsh treble
  • No three-band stage

Open the rounded rectangular case and you'll feel an evolution in what we should expect from earbuds at this price. Unlike the latest model from Sony, these should easily fit smaller ears as well as they fit my very average ear holes. Pairing is near-instant with modern Android phones, and they pair the same way other non-Apple Bluetooth devices pair in iOS.

Pros
  • Excellent audio performance
  • Comfortable fit
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • No app-based controls
