Product Overview
ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate is a flagship gaming smartphone based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 5G Mobile Platform. Compared to the base ROG Phone 5, it increases the memory to 18GB and storage to 512GB while retaining the 6.78-inch OLED display with over 111% DCI-P3 coverage and 114Hz refresh rate as well as the latest WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and 5G wireless connectivity.
True to its gaming heritage, the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate inherits the design language of its predecessors. It also bucks the trend in the industry and retains the 3.5mm headphone jack, which is powered by a Hi-Fi-grade ESS DAC. The same 6000mAh battery capacity from previous generations can be found here, too.
Compared to its predecessor, the new ROG Phone 5 Ultimate offers 25% faster CPU performance and 35% GPU performance.
With the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, ASUS also introduced the AeroActive Cooler 5, which is a clip-on external cooling fan.

Reviewer score 72%The camera setup of Asus' ROG Phone 5 Ultimate does not change compared with its sister models. The imaging performance of the main camera is good, and the high resolution allows useful enlargements even without an optical zoom. The two front-facing speakers can not only get very loud, but also provide a comparatively good sound image. There is broad support for Bluetooth codecs as well as an excellent audio jack.

Reviewer score 60%Asus has committed to launching the ROG Phone 5 lineup globally, but it hasn't shared a specific launch date in the US. All of these phones will work on T-Mobile and AT&T, and to that end, they support these carriers' sub-6GHz 5G networks. While this phone definitely has a leg up on the competition when it comes to power and software features, it's not worth paying this much to get them.

tomsguide[4]
Reviewer score 66%The ROG Phone 5 Ultimate comes with two extra touch sensor zones on the back of the phone. These controls join the ultrasonic AirTriggers on the frame of the device. The triple camera setup looks good on paper — a 64MP main camera is joined by a 13MP ultrawide angle lens and a dedicated 5MP macro shooter. Even under optimal lighting conditions, the images look flat, bland, and devoid of life.
