  • Excellent 1080p gaming performance
  • Good battery life
  • Good keyboard backlighting
  • Not the cheapest RTX 30-series gaming laptop

MSI Pulse GL66 is an excellent midrange gaming laptop so long as you don't take it anywhere and value doesn't mean anything to you. The GL66 Pulse puts out some decent gaming performance. However, with comparatively weak gaming figures and poor battery life, the MSI GL66 isn't much of a winner.
This rundown provides our analysis on 8 third-party reviews. The sentiment scores, summaries, and key takeaways that we select are based on these reviews and may differ from the original publication.

Reviewers from Expertreviews have found the following[***]:
The GL66 Pulse is available in three flavours with the Nvidia RTX 3060, 3050 Ti or 3050. The 3050Ti version that I'm reviewing seems to be the only version generally available in the UK for just under £1,100. It can handle high fidelity AAA games with ease and can be comprehensively upgraded after purchase. The display is technically poor, battery life could be better and it all looks and feels a bit cheap and plasticky.

Reviewers from Pcmag have found the following[***]:
The GL66 Pulse is MSI's latest midrange gaming laptop for 2021. It offers Intel "Tiger Lake-H" processing and Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series graphics. A metal lid and RGB keyboard backlighting elevate it above MSI's ultra-budget GF Katana line. However, it's a tough sell when the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro costs about the same.

  • Good keyboard and touchpad
  • Good battery life
  • Lacks dedicated Num Lock and Num Lock
  • Only one USB Type-C port

Reviewers from Techradar have found the following[***]:
MSI Pulse GL66 puts out some fantastic gaming performance, even consistently getting 35 to 40 fps in Cyberpunk 2077 at max settings with ray tracing and DLSS on. This is not a gaming laptop that you can game on away from a wall outlet, so it's really a desktop replacement for those who don't have a ton of money to throw at an actual desktop replacement. There are better gaming laptops that a little bit more expensive but have significantly better performance as well as battery life.
