Product Overview
Mercedes-Benz EQS is a fully electric full-size luxury sedan envisioned as the electrified version of the legendary Mercedes S-Class. It features an unconventional design that combines gorgeous and futuristic interior with an exterior that may be an acquired taste.
This design is driven by the desire to build the most aerodynamic production car in the world. Mercedes has achieve a coefficient of drag of just 0.2 for the EQS, significantly improving the vehicle's high-speed efficiency. Mercedes touts an electric range of up to 770km.
Another noteworthy aspect of the EQS is its batteries with higher energy density. With DC fast charging at 200kW, the EQS can be be recharged in just over half an hour, with up to 300km of range added in 15 minutes.
Rear-axle steering now comes standard. The default rear-axle turning angle is up to 4.5 degrees, while an OTA upgrade can activate the 10-degree mode.
Other gadgetries include optional automatic comfort doors that opens automatically, extensive use of touch screens, including OLED displays, and a suite of Mercedes' latest driver-aid technologies.
Enthusiasts may be relieved in knowing that at least a sensible RWD model is available. At launch, the EQS are available with two drivetrain options, the RWD EQS 450+ and the AWD EQS 580 4MATIC. Mercedes also expects a high-performance model to arrive later in the model's lifecycle.

autocar[1]
Reviewer score 74%, the highest of which claimed to harvest up to 300kW, pulling it up very smartly when you lift. As with the driveline, AMG has tweaked the EQS’s air suspension. Changes include a model-specific adaptive dampers similar to those used by the GT 4-Door Coupé. Less distinguished is the ride quality. The air-sprung underpinnings are quite firm, even in Comfort mode.

Pros
- Powerful electric motor
- Excellent ride quality
- Powerful four-wheel drive system
Cons
- Brake feels inconsistent
- Brake feel is inconsistent
autocar[2]
Reviewer score 87%The EQS is Mercedes-Benz's first all-in, no-holds-barred EV. It has prodigious pace, even in this lower-powered form, delivers impressive poise and control. It's also impressively agile, with rear-wheel steering boosting its manoeuvrability at low speed and stability at higher speeds. In these respects, it's immersively and seductively luxurious.

Pros
- Sleek, luxurious design
- Impressive range
- Superb handling
Cons
- Lack of dynamic range
autocar[3]
Reviewer score 84%The EQS is a big and heavy car, yet its responses are more like those of a sports saloon than a limo. The steering is lightly weighted, but there’s still sufficient tactility to the variable-ratio system to ensure you feel involved. Airmatic air suspension with standard variable damping control is superbly compliant, endowing the EQS with great composure and truly impressive comfort.

Pros
- Punchy handling
- Impressive handling
- Excellent infotainment system
Cons
- A bit floaty over undulating roads
autoexpress[4]
Reviewer score 80%At low speeds the EQS is genuinely near silent, with just a little wind whistle appearing around the A-pillars as you approach or exceed the motorway limit. The driving experience, on the whole, is very pleasant, with unrivalled refinement an undisputable benchmark for this car's team of talented engineers. But despite costing similar money, the Mercedes cannot challenge a Porsche Taycan in the corners.

Pros
- Powerful electric motor
- Comfortable to drive
- Good ride quality
Cons
- Lack of natural brake pedal feel
autoexpress[5]
Reviewer score 76%It's surprisingly agile given its size and weight, while performance is strong. Adaptive air suspension removes the bad elements, yet still offers a degree of connection between driver and machine. The steering is light, but for a 5.2-metre-long car the EQS is surprisingly nimble, too.

Pros
- Superb refinement
- Lots of driver-assistance systems
Cons
- Quite high headroom
autoexpress[6]
Reviewer score 78%The EQS 53 is a strong first effort from AMG when it comes to series production all-electric machines. Performance takes another step on compared with the standard EQS, but it's actually the car’s ride and handling that are more impressive than the straight-line shove. The 0-62mph sprint is dispatched in 3.8 seconds (or 3.4 for the Dynamic Plus model)
Find the original article here.
Pros
- Powerful engines
- Comfortable to drive
Cons
- Kerbweight isn’t the strongest
carmagazine[7]
Reviewer score 81%vers around the 2.5-tonne mark, the flagship's 0-62mph acceleration time is a brisk 4.3sec, with top speed limited to 131mph. Shod with 21-inch summer tyres all-round (22-inch wheels are optional), our pre-production specimen was not quite as compliant and cossetting as expected. Even minor vagaries were promptly telegraphed to the steering-wheel, the seat and the floorpan.

Pros
- Fantastic acceleration
- Impressive ride quality
- Superb infotainment system
Cons
- No Sport Plus drive mode
digitaltrends[8]
Reviewer score 80%Standard air suspension gives the EQS the smooth, pothole-erasing ride you should expect from a big luxury sedan. Mercedes devised some sound effects that would make George Lucas proud. The EQS gets the same four-year, 50,000-mile, new-vehicle warranty as other Mercedes models.
