Product Overview

The 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 Touring is the inconspicuous variant of the standard 911 GT3. It trades the latter's large spoiler for a more classy exterior. Compared to the last GT3 Touring, a new no-cost option is now the PDK transmission, though the new 6-speed manual is standard.
The new Touring shares its 4.0L naturally-aspirated H6 engine with the new GT3. It also has the same rear-engine, RWD layout that GT3s have always featured. Likewise, the 992 911 GT3 Touring uses double wishbone suspensions in the front, with multi-link rear suspensions.
Naturally, the new Touring shares the same carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) bonnet, lightweight glasses, and 20/21-inch staggered forged alloy wheels with the standard GT3. Steel brakes are standard, while PCCB ceramic braking system is available. There is also a front-axle lift system on option.

There's a purity and agility that feels mid-engined, but underneath it reside 911 handling idiosyncrasies. The GT3 is like a racecar in this sense: you set the heading with the steering, then trim your precise line with the accelerator. It's just that kind of car: too good for the road, in way that the 991, by the skin of its teeth, wasn't. And then there are those other drawbacks: noise, over-sensitivity, ride-quality.

£3,788 fixed back carbon fibre-backed sports seats are incredible. Steering is wonderfully precise too as it gently wriggles in your hands. The all-new double wishbone front suspension layout - a first for a 911 road car - helps the way the GT3 corners, too.

The 992's interior still feels box-fresh and beautifully resolved. The driving position (helped here by £3788 optional bucket seats) is spot-on. The engine is commendably muted on start-up and responsive from 2500rpm. On the road the GT3 moves with a gimlet-eyed sense of purpose. The short-throw manual shift is simply flawless.
