The 2021 Gigabyte AERO 17 (HDR) is a 17.3-inch ultra-thin gaming laptop that improves upon the 2020 model by adding RTX 30-series GPUs, a 300Hz FHD display option, and a 99Wh battery.
At the same time, the new AERO 17 retains the same chassis and features of the previous model.
Gigabyte markets the 4K UHD model as AERO 17 HDR. It can be purchased with higher-powered GPUs (RTX 3070 and RTX 3080), while the FHD model is sold with RTX 3060.
Compared to the similarly-equipped AORUS 17G, the AERO 17 is significantly more compact, though we can expect its thermal capacity to be lower.
Alongside the AERO 17, Gigabyte also refreshed the AERO 15 with RTX 30-series graphics at CES 2021.

Reviewer score 71%The Aero 17 HDR YC is only about 10 percent faster than a good 2080 Super Max Q notebook (Asus GX701LXS) The device is calmer that most of its competition despite its powerful CPU/GPU combination. The battery lasts over 10 hours while idling at minimum brightness and around 6 hours while the screen is at full brightness.

Reviewer score 83%When it comes to taxing a GPU, nothing beats 3DMark's benchmark tests, and it's on these tests that the Aero 17 really pulls away from its competition. The Aero 17 isn't a high performance gaming laptop and isn't meant to be. The configuration we tested is definitely geared more toward creative professionals and against its rivals in the creative's mobile workstation class, it is the hands-down winner.
