Sentiment Score[*] 75%
Reviewers from Digitaltrends have found the following[***]:
The HW-Q800T soundbar is a 3.1.2 system with Amazon Alexa built-in. There are no rear speakers in this package, though you can buy a $130 pair from Samsung to complete your surround sound setup. The subwoofer nearly stole the show, producing some of the best low end sound I've heard this year.

Pros[**]
  • Excellent sound quality with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support
  • Amazon Alexa built-in
Cons[**]
  • Nothing in particular

expertreviews[2]

Sentiment Score[*] 90%
Reviewers from Expertreviews have found the following[***]:
There are three models of the Samsung Q800T: the 65in, 75in and 82in. All are built with a so-called ‘Boundless Design', which means that the bezels are extremely thin, though not completely invisible. Only the Q900T and Q950TS benefit from Samsung's ‘Infinity Screen' design, which – when viewed from the front – makes the panel appear as though it doesn't have any bezel at all. There isn't a huge amount of native 8K content available, though; apart from the reasonable selection on Vimeo and YouTube.

Pros[**]
  • Impressive HDR10+ performance
  • Impressive Quantum Processor 8K performance
Cons[**]
  • Only 60Hz refresh rate for native 8K content

rtings[3]

Sentiment Score[*] 81%
Reviewers from Rtings have found the following[***]:
The Samsung Q800T is a new TV in Samsung's 2020 8k QLED lineup and it's sold as the Samsung Q850T at Costco. Its VA panel has Samsung's 'Ultra Viewing Angle' layer added to it, improving its viewing angles at the cost of a lower native contrast ratio. The TV has impressive reflection handling if you place it in a bright room, and the viewing angles are wide enough if you want to watch the game with a big group of friends. It has an incredibly low input lag, a very good response time, and it has FreeSync VRR support.

Pros[**]
  • Very low input lag
  • Very good response time
  • Good contrast ratio
  • FreeSync VRR support
Cons[**]
  • Some uniformity issues
  • Mediocre black levels

Its VA panel has Samsung's 'Ultra Viewing Angle' layer added to it, improving its viewing angles at the cost of a lower native contrast ratio. It's a good choice to use either in dark rooms, as it has a good local dimming feature that darkens any blacks, or in bright rooms since it gets bright and has impressive reflection handling. The TV dithers a bit with 8k content, but it's only noticeable if you're sitting extremely close to the screen.

  • Very bright panel
  • Very low input lag
  • Excellent reflection handling
  • Good contrast ratio
Cons[**]

The Q800T uses Samsung's Tizen-based Eden smart TV platform. It's easy to add more apps from Samsung's app store. Samsung is also to be praised for supporting a wide range of key apps. You even get HDR10+ support with Amazon, meaning the HDR streams carry extra scene-by-scene data to help compatible TVs deliver better pictures.

Pros[**]
  • Impressive upscaling
  • Impressive black levels and colour response
  • Excellent HDR10+ support
Cons[**]
  • Nothing in particular

The Samsung HW-Q800T is the latest mid-range soundbar from the company. It also decodes Dolby Atmos/DTS:X object-based audio and supports eARC. There are no rear speakers, but a virtual setting allows the Dolby and DTS up-mixers to add a surround effect. The SmartThings app and Amazon Alexa allow for streaming from a number of services including Apple Music.

Pros[**]
  • Dolby Atmos and DTS:X
  • Expansive and immersive front soundstage
  • Built-in Amazon Alexa
Cons[**]
  • Only one HDMI input

trustedreviews[7]

Sentiment Score[*] 81%
Reviewers from Trustedreviews have found the following[***]:
The Samsung Q800T delivers on its 8K promise more fulsomely than its 2019 predecessors. Even though this is only a 65-inch screen, there's a profound sense of immediacy and realism to much of the 8K footage that goes beyond the ‘feel' you get from the same footage on a 4K screen. Black colours typically look so dark and rich that it's hard to believe you're watching an LCD TV rather than an OLED. Motion processing is handled well for Samsung's 8K ranges.

Pros[**]
  • Impressive black and colour gamut
  • Impressive AI/deep learning capabilities
  • Superb motion processing
Cons[**]
  • Not as good as 4K
