Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
Ford Performance has ditched the standard Raptor's leaf springs at the back and fitted the type of suspension you'd find on a Ford Fiesta World Rally car. There are coil springs and a Watt's linkage for the rear, and Fox Motorsport dampers all round. The steering is light and surprisingly accurate for a 2.5-tonne truck, and the body doesn't sway or lurch into corners.

Pros
  • Fantastic off-road performance
  • Excellent on-road manners
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Not the most practical

Ford has launched a special-edition Ranger Thunder for buyers who want a truck that offers even more style. The Thunder is based on top-spec Wildtrak trim, so it's packed with kit but gets some unique styling flourishes to help it stand out. Chief among these is the Sea Grey metallic paint, which is complemented by black 18-inch alloy wheels and gloss black plastic trim with red details.

Pros
  • Stylish looks
  • Lots of kit
Cons
  • Bumpy rear suspension

Reviewers from carmagazine have found the following***:
The 2.0-litre diesel's claimed 31.7mpg delivers a driving range that means you'll be able to go further into the wilderness than you would with a powerful petrol motor. But in a lifestyle pickup market that contains 255bhp V6-powered VW Amaroks and Mercedes X-Classes that can go 0-62mph in seven seconds, the Raptor's 10.5-second sprint just doesn't seem good enough for a range-topping ‘performance’ model.

Pros
  • Impressive off-road performance
  • Terrrain Management System
  • Lots of standard kit
Cons
  • Engine feels a little underwhelming
  • Poor payload rating

Reviewers from cnet have found the following***:
The 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine is smoother than rival trucks' V6s. Ford CoPilot-360 is also standard on XLT and Lariat trims. At least with FX4 upgrades, this truck is a driving disappointment. In mixed driving and without much effort, I average 21.9 miles per gallon in my test Ranger.

Pros
  • Powerful EcoBoost four-cylinder engine
  • Easy-to-use infotainment system
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Tough ride
  • Cramped brake pedal
  • No wireless charging
