Summary

The Sony A6400 is a rather ordinary-looking mirrorless camera, but it is shaking up the camera industry. It's borrowed key technologies from Sony's full-frame cameras, despite costing half as much. The grip is comfortable, protruding quite a bit farther from the body than other cameras in this class.
This rundown provides our analysis on 8 third-party reviews. The sentiment scores, summaries, and key takeaways that we select are based on these reviews and may differ from the original publication.

Reviewers from ndtv have found the following[***]:
The Sony A6400 has a 24.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor with the same 425 PDAF points as the A6300 and A6500. Unlike those two models, it has the same number of contrast detection autofocus points, which is how it's able to achieve a claimed focus area of just 0.02 seconds. In India, Sony is selling the A64000 in three bundles. There's one with just the body for the Rs. 75,990 price we stated earlier; one with a 16-50mm lens for Rs. 10,000 more; and the third with an 18-135mm zoom lens for £1,09,990.

Sentiment Score[*] 71%
Reviewers from pcmag have found the following[***]:
The Sony a6400 ($899.99, body only) isn't the sexiest, flashiest camera to come from the brand in recent years. The APS-C format delivers a solid balance of size, image quality, and depth of field control. The camera can still miss focus on occasion, but for the most part does a very good job keeping your subject in focus.

  • In-body image stabilization (IBIS)
  • Fast burst shooting
  • Easy to use

Sony's A6400 sits in a middle-ground between the a6500 and the a6000. It inherits some great features from Sony's full-frame lineup. It has the same Bionz X processor as found in the flagship A9 model. It also brings enhancements to Eye AF and subject tracking. Image quality is very good, and the camera is adept at producing pleasing images.
